What is the Breast Fat Transfer procedure?
Dr. Youssef recommends a breast fat transfer for a very natural and permanent look. The procedure consists of the doctor making a tiny puncture in the unwanted fat areas, then removing the fat through a small tube and syringe. Once the fat is harvested it is purified and injected into the breasts. The injections are made in tiny droplets near blood vessels to ensure permanency and growth.
What are the risks of a Breast Fat Transfer?
Although the procedure will last for several hours, as opposed to just a couple with breast implant surgery, the risks and side effects are much smaller. Since the doctor only pokes a hole in the unwanted fat area and then again into the breast, there is little to no scarring or bleeding. Other risks include fat being reabsorbed by the body and calcification, which may affect the results of a mammogram. New technology has made it possible to identify calcification, but for the most accurate results, Dr. Youssef suggests that you get an MRI.

Some of the benefits of a breast fat transfer include the fact that the breasts can be shaped and contoured as desired by adding fat to the needed areas. Also, since it is your own fat being injected into your breasts, there is less likely of a chance that you will get an infection, or your body will reject the fat, or cause contracture (tightening and hardening of the tissue around an implant).
