What is a Breast Lift?
YOUnique Cosmetic Surgery offers our patients several procedures to fix sagging breasts, particularly a breast lift. A breast lift is also known as Mastopexy and involves the reshaping and lifting of the breasts. Usually, patients who experience weight loss, pregnancy and breast feed will see their breasts begin to sag.
What is the procedure for a Breast Lift?
Dr. Youssef can fix sagging or drooping breasts using one of three forms of mastopexy. The first is a dount lift, which caters to patients with small breasts or minor sagging. Better known as a periareolar lift, the donut lift involves removing a donut shape from the areola, allowing for the lift of the areola and nipple. The second is the lollipop lift, or vertical lift, which is for patients who have major sagging or who’s nipple is below the bottom crease of the breast. This procedure results in scar around the areola and a vertical scar at the bottom of the breast. The third procedure is an inverted T lift, or anchor lift. This procedure is recommended for patients that need a lot of excess skin removed (e.g. breast reduction, weight loss, etc...). During an inverted T lift procedure, the doctor will remove the skin around the areola and bottom part of the breast, resulting in an upside down T connected to the circular scar around the colored skin surrounding the nipple.
What should I expect after my Breast Lift procedure?
All procedures are done at our state-of-the-art office located across the street from the Santa Monica pier. Patients will be able to choose whether they want local or I.V. anaesthesia, and post-surgery, patients will be required to wear a supportive bra. Should there be any post-op pain, Dr. Youssef recommends that you take pain medication. Swelling and bruising will subside within a week, so long as the supportive bra is worn. The procedure itself can take between two to four hours, and recovery time is usually a week, but most patients are back to work within two to three days.
