What Are Age Spots?

Solar lentigines, more commonly referred to as age spots or liver spots, often appear on human skin as people age.  These uniformly-colored elements are typically brown or grayish in color, and they tend to be most pronounced on a person’s face, neck, hands, and chest.  Despite their name, however, old age is not attributable to the skin’s change in pigment, which presents these well-defined markings.  Rather, prolonged sun exposure is the root cause of these blemishes.

What Are Brown Spots?

Brown spots and Pigmentation can develop on the skin for many reasons. Prolonged sun exposure and genetics are the most common causes for Brown Spots, Sun Spots, Blood Spots, Sun Damage, Acne Scars, Fibromas and Broken Capillaries. At Younique Cosmetic Surgery we have the latest Technology and procedures to rid your skin of all irregularities.

Skin Pigmentation

There are a wide range of skin pigmentation disorders that can affect the natural beauty of your appearance and many practitioners steer away from some of the more complex problems that occur in darker skin tones. Many of these conditions can include only slight to moderate discoloration and are treatable with a precisely defined use of medical-grade applications. For those that are a little more complicated, a strategic course of products and procedures may be required.

Pigmentation Treatment

At Younique Cosmetic we have the expertise to treat excess pigmentation for the wide range of skin types, from light to dark and everything in between. We consider your present condition, prior treatments and lifestyle before creating an individually-defined approach to achieving the vibrant skin complexion you desire.

Many people have lived with pigmentation disorders for many years, sometimes most of their lives. If you are one of those people then chances are you already familiar with the type of condition you are suffering from. However, for those who are not certain what type of pigmentation disorder you have, we’ve provided some information about the basic types of conditions. And, we are confident that we can help you.

Albinism

Albinism is a rare, often inherited, disorder caused by a defect in the body’s ability to produce melanin. It’s recognized by very fair skin, white hair and pink eyes in extreme cases. But there are varying degrees of albinism and some manifest in patches of light skin, or light pigmentation spots than may benefit from a pigmentation treatment.

Melasma

Melasma is a very common condition characterized by darker pigmentation spots, generally on the cheeks, nose bridge, forehead, upper lip and chin. It can manifest on other parts of the body that get a lot of direct sun, such as the forearms. Melasma has a connection to hormones and occurs about 90 percent of the time in women. The good news is that we can help correct this discoloration with a pigmentation removal plan and treatment.

Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a similar condition in which patches of skin appear darker than your normal overall skin tone. It can be attributed to excess melanin and is generally harmless. Treatments can be as simple as professional applications of skin lightening products to slow melanin production in the affected areas.

Skin Damage

Scars, burns, blisters and surgeries damage the skin and the body may not be able to restore melanin to the injured areas. This can result in lighter areas that require pigmentation treatment to the damaged skin.

Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a disorder characterized by white patches appearing on different parts of the body. It commonly affects the face, wrists and hands and it happens when the cells that create pigmentation in the skin are damaged or destroyed. We offer a pigmentation treatment to help restore your complexion to its natural appearance.
