Consultation
During your one-on-one consultation with your Younique provider, they discuss your concerns, biopsy treatment, and medical history. If a skin biopsy in Oxnard is the best treatment for you, they will schedule your session.
Procedure
After cleansing and numbing the treatment area, your Younique provider will select the best skin biopsy technique to remove the sample from the area of concern. Depending on which technique was necessary to retrieve the sample, your provider may apply one or two simple stitches at the end of treatment.
Recovery
Your Younique provider will send your biopsy to a qualified lab for testing. Your results may take anywhere from a few days up to 2 weeks to come back.
If you needed any stitches at the end of your biopsy, you can expect them to dissolve and fall out within 1 to 2 weeks. Let your provider know if you’d like to schedule a follow-up visit to check on your stitches.
Once we have your lab results, your Younique provider can assist you with a treatment plan. If results point toward a more serious skin concern, your provider may recommend you consult with your primary medical provider.

Are there any side effects from having a skin biopsy?
At Younique Surgery and Med Spa, all skin biopsies are quick outpatient procedures. We ensure that the treatment area is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected before your expert Younique provider begins.
In very rare cases, a patient may experience:
- Bleeding at the biopsy site
- Bruising
- Slight scarring
- Infection
- Allergic reaction to the anesthetic
The vast majority of our skin biopsies in Oxnard are smooth procedures.
Is there any aftercare for my skin biopsy?
Although sites such as the lower legs or locations prone to friction may take longer, most skin biopsies at Younique take about 7 to 10 days to heal. Until the biopsy site is entirely healed, please avoid the following:
- Swimming pools
- Hot tubs
- Any place where the wound would be fully immersed in water
You can shower 1 day after the biopsy.
