Consultation
It starts with a personal consultation with your trained and licensed Younique provider. During this relaxing and energizing one-on-one, they’ll discuss your concerns, your goals for treatment, and your medical history. If your provider determines that PDO threads in Los Angeles are the best treatment for your concerns and goals, your session can be scheduled.
Procedure
Although PDO threads can treat a variety of areas, they’re most helpful and commonly used around the neck, jaw, and lower portion of your face. Your Younique provider begins the 60-minute procedure by cleansing the treatment area and removing any makeup present. Next, they anesthetize the area for maximum comfort, and then they carefully insert these sutures beneath the surface of your skin to instantly lift and tighten the treatment area. The procedure is nonsurgical and minimally invasive—eliminating the need for incisions and the risk of scarring.
Recovery
PDO threads can easily be used in conjunction with other treatments used for aging facial tissue such as dermal fillers and thermage. Your body naturally absorbs the sutures within 4 to 6 months, however the benefits of PDO threads have been known to last roughly 12 months. The PDO thread treatment doesn’t require major downtime for recovery. Side effects are minor, such as bruising, swelling, or redness at the injection site. These fade within 1 or 2 days.
How do PDO threads work?
PDO threads work in a variety of ways, providing both immediate and long-acting facial rejuvenation. You notice an instant improvement, as the threads create a skin-tightening mesh that uniquely lifts your skin and holds it in a more youthful position.
This treatment creates long-lasting results through a natural medical process called selective inflammatory response. The sutures trigger your body’s immune system to release healing properties and create new collagen.
This cellular response naturally rebuilds the structure of your skin over the 4- to 6-month healing process. Even after your body absorbs the sutures, the healthy new collagen remains.
What happens during my PDO thread treatment?
During your PDO thread treatment, your Younique provider numbs the treatment area and then uses either blunt tip needles, called cannulas, or sharp-tipped needles to insert the threads under the skin. The type of PDO thread depends on what best suits your treatment goals and your skin. Several threading options exist, including:
Smooth. The thread is smooth, promoting collagen production and supporting skin with less dramatic lift.
Twist. The thread is wrapped around the cannula, creating a coil shape for greater surface area lift.
Barb 1. Tiny barbs, all in one direction, are inserted in subcutaneous fat to provide a firmer hold for repositioning skin.
Barb 2. Tiny barbs in two directions, for an even greater ability to reposition the skin.
Once inserted into the appropriate layer of skin, they act as anchors as the skin is lifted upwards to greater or lesser degrees. After all is set, the excess threads are cut off.
