Consultation
It all starts with a personal consultation between you and your licensed Younique provider. During this personalized consultation, they’ll discuss:
- Your existing breast implants
- Your goals for surgery
- Your medical history
If your provider determines that breast implant removal is the best option, they will first schedule an MRI. Once we receive your results, we can schedule your surgery. We will share pre-surgery preparation details.

Procedure
You will receive anesthetic via IV sedation or general. Next, your licensed Younique surgeon will make an incision near your areola or breast crease to remove the implants and any scar tissue. Depending on your goals, this is also when you could get breast implants or a lift. Once the incisions are closed, the healing process will commence.

Recovery
Similar to the recovery after your first augmentation, allow time to heal following implant removal or revision. In the first 1 to 2 weeks post-surgery, it’s essential to rest and steer clear of strenuous activities, lifting more than 5 pounds, and driving.
Don’t forget to wear a supportive bra or compression garment to control swelling. To remove excess fluid or blood, your surgeon could insert drains under your skin. Usually, they get removed in a few days.

What happens to my breasts after the implant is removed?
If implant removal without replacement is the best course of action, the original implant size significantly impacts the outcome. Some patients have noticed sagging, drooping, or misshapen breasts following implant removal. That’s one of the reasons we recommend a breast lift be done after the implants are removed, so that excess skin can also be removed. Your breasts will be reshaped and repositioned to enhance their appearance after healing.
How do I prepare for a breast implant removal procedure?
Before implant removal, you’ll need a breast MRI to assess the implant and surrounding tissues. Then, two weeks before your surgery, you will need to:
- Stop taking Aspirin/Tylenol/ibuprofen
- Stop taking anti-inflammatories
- Stop taking herbs that thin blood
- Stop smoking
