Benefits of Breast Implant Removal in SAnta Monica
Restoration
Removing breast implants can help your breasts return to a more natural looking shape and size.
Wellness
While rare, “breast implant illness” can still happen. Removal may improve your condition.
Improvement
Implants can rupture or lead to hardening breast tissue, causing issues. Removal can relieve you of many symptoms.
Consultation
Our process begins with a consultation with one of our licensed Younique providers. During this meeting, we discuss your current implants, medical history, and goals for surgery. If we determine that removing your implant is the right step, we can schedule an MRI for you breasts. After receiving the results, we can schedule your surgery and provide information to help prepare you for the procedure.

Procedure
We provide an anesthetic via IV sedation or general anesthesia. Your Younique surgeon will make an incision around your areola or under the lower area of your breast to remove the implants and any scar tissue. Depending on your aesthetic goals, we may also insert new implants or perform a small breast lift. We close the incision and complete the surgery.

Recovery
Like your original breast augmentation, recovering from implant removal or revision takes time. During the first 1 to 2 weeks following surgery, you will need to rest and avoid strenuous activities such as lifting items exceeding 5 pounds and driving.
Remember your support bra? She’s making a glorious comeback! Wear the compression garment regularly to reduce swelling. Your Younique surgeon may also insert drains under your skin and remove excess fluid or blood. Generally, we remove these after a few days.

What happens to my breasts after the implant is removed?
If we determine that removing the implant with no replacement is the best course of action, the size of the original implant will impact your results. Patients may see breast sag, droop, or even appear slightly misshapen after implant removal. For this reason, we highly recommend performing a breast lift following implant removal. This removes the excess skin and helps to reshape your breasts for a more positive post-healing experience.
How do I prepare for a breast implant removal procedure?
Prior to your breast implant removal, we perform an MRI to gain a clear understanding of what’s happing in and around the implant. Next, your part in preparing for surgery begins! For best results, we advise the following:
- Stop taking aspirin, Tylenol, and ibuprofen
- Stop taking anti-inflammatories
- Stop taking herbs that thin blood
- Stop smoking
