Benefits of IPL Laser in Oxnard
Versatile Treatment
The IPL laser in Oxnard can be used to address a wide variety of concerns, helping you refresh your complexion in all sorts of ways.
Address Multiple Areas
The IPL laser can be used in all sorts of areas where discoloration persists—face, neck, arms, shoulders, back, and beyond.
Multiple Enhancements
IPL goes beyond clearing discoloration. Get ready to say goodbye to unwanted facial hair while also enhancing your beautiful skin tone and texture.
Consultation
To assess if the IPL laser in Oxnard is right for you, we’ll first sit down with you for a personal, private consultation. Here, you and your Younique provider will discuss your goals for treatment, medical history, and any concerns or questions you may have.
If you and your provider feel that IPL laser therapy is the treatment for you, we’ll get you scheduled and share any essential pre-treatment information so you can prepare accordingly.
Procedure
Photofacial therapy treatments usually last between 20 and 30 minutes. This procedure won’t add any unnecessary stress to your body because it’s noninvasive and nonsurgical.
First, your provider will cleanse the targeted area—we may also apply a numbing agent if needed. Second, your provider will use the IPL laser to address your unique concerns. The therapy can provide relief from skin discoloration, age spots, and redness. At the same time, it helps to stimulate collagen production in the treated area. Third, and finally, we recommend scheduling touch-up sessions about every 6 months.
Recovery
We recommend using cold compresses and medical-grade skincare to assist with any swelling or discomfort.
You may also experience the following:
- Blistering can occur; however, it’s uncommon and is typically very mild.
- You have mild bruising or skin flaking in the treated area.
- Minor skin redness and swelling can happen after IPL laser therapy.
- You may feel a slight sunburn-like feeling.
All of these symptoms are normal and typically subside within a couple of days. If any symptoms persist, give our office a call and we will help you in any way we can.
How many treatments will I need?
Normally, the IPL laser in Oxnard requires up to 5 total sessions to see best results, but positive results may only take 3 sessions. Your personal treatment plan will be based on the concerns mentioned in your consultation and your desired results. Additionally, we can adjust your treatment plan depending on how your skin responds to your sessions. We’ll keep an eye on your progress and discuss any potential updates with you.
Is IPL laser therapy painful?
Pain tolerance is dependent on an individual basis, so patient experiences vary from person to person. However, our providers are experts at what they do, and they will take every measure to help keep you comfortable throughout your treatment. Some patients have reported feeling a light stinging or burning sensation in the treatment area during their appointment. We are happy to offer a cooling gel to help manage any pain.
What should I be aware of before IPL laser treatment?
At Younique, we strive to help our patients feel as comfortable as possible before, during, and after treatment. Part of how we do that is through patient education. We will provide you with everything you need to know in order to prepare for your appointment and maximize your results.
We have several recommendations to get the best out of your IPL laser treatment:
- Refrain from using Accutane 6 months prior to treatment.
- Do not tan the areas being treated for 4 weeks prior to treatment, and avoid self-tanning products.
- Stop all Retin-A, Retinol, Renova, glycolics, bleaching creams, and exfoliants 3 to 4 days prior to treatment.
- The treatment area must be free of any open sores, lesions, or skin infections. If an open wound develops in the treatment area, give us a call to reschedule your appointment.
- For treatment of pigmented skin lesions, you should consult a specialist if there is a family or personal history of skin cancer, or if you have these concerns.
- Shave any hair present in the area to be treated. Men should shave the beard area twice in succession in order to ensure the closest shave possible.
- Come to your appointment wearing no makeup and no lotion.
- If you have elected to use a topical anesthetic, arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow enough time for the numbing to take effect.
- You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you have a history of oral herpes, you must pretreat with an antiviral 3 days before your scheduled visit.
Our staff may give you an updated list of pre-care instructions. If so, follow that list to be as prepared as possible.
